For the last about one month and also at this very juncture the Indian Students ,studying in Australia ,are being racially discriminated and both physically and mentally assaulted, and in the process about 4 students ,in different part of Australian cities, have been brutally attacked, and all of them have been admitted in various hospitals ,in Australia and fighting, life and death, and one /two of them are placed on ventilator (life support apparatus) .
Sri S.Krishna External Affairs Minister , Government of India , has expressed its concern , and expressed its unhappiness in no uncertain terms , and the protest has been lodged at the Australian Consulate. It is irony that the Australian Police have not been able to check the crime committed in Australia,against Indian students, and even when the Police claimed that mischief mongers and among the many, few attackers having been identified.
The gravity of the problem can be gauged from the fact that the Australian Prime Minister has accepted the fact that Indians have been singled out for attacks. Many Indian students have openly expressed, through interviews to different news channels and journalists, that they are living in fear, and are not sure about their own security nor do their family feel safe .
Australia must remember that India shares a very good rapport with the Australian people and its Government and the Government should ensure that mischief mongers do not disturb the fabric of faith, friendship,bond, and also the very image of Australia is involved in the process and the world bodies are not only closely watching and monitoring the situation with anxiety and hope. The first fallout of such a situation is Living Legend Sri Amitabh Bachchan's refusal , even after giving his consent, to accept the Doctorate Degree from Queensland University Australia , and his refusal ,at this juncture is rightful, because it will be widely reported through media , the grave situations Indians are facing in Australia, and Mr Amitabh Bachchan's refusal act is .in a way is a registered PROTEST , before all the World bodies including the U N O in general and Australians in Particular, and the Government of Australia should act now and fast. Mr Amitabh Bachchan refusal ,even after giving his consent is right , and a mature conduct viz a viz his personality. Even otherwise had Mr Bachchan had not refused he would have been condemned by one and all-INDIANs. Let our NAtional leaders take a leaf from Mr Amitabh Bachchan, only a ALLAHABADian could have dared.
